. How to Clean Wigs:
How to clean Human Hair or Yak Hair Wigs:
Remove all hairpins or styling props.
Gently remove tangles with a large toothed comb.
Hold the wig (at the top with hair hanging down) under a
warm running tap to wet
Remove from tap, gently working/squeezing mild shampoo
through the wig, working in the direction the hair is tied
Rinse under warm running water, again holding the
wig at the top
Repeat above step with light conditioner, then rinse again
(the conditioner helps prevent tangles)
Squeeze the water out (human hair absorbs water, unlike
synthetics, so you need to ring out the excess),
Lay the wig on a towel; roll it up in the towel to blot. You
can let it sit in the towel for a few minutes
Pin the wig carefully to an appropriately sized head block, secure
lace front with small straight pins and twill tape
While it is still wet, gently detangle the wig from top to bottom
with a wide toothed comb
using gentle downward strokes, one section at a time. Never begin
combing at the top or middle and always comb down. Let it
air dry.
Be careful not to stretch or strain the wig while it’s wet as you
could distort or warp the piece, resulting in fitting issues.
After wig is dry you can style it using rollers or GENTLE heat.

How to clean Synthetic Wigs:
Brush the wig thoroughly. Add wig shampoo to wash basin & fill w/cold water. Let soak for 5 minutes. Swish the wig gently NEVER RUB. Rinse gently in cold clear water twice or until thoroughly rinsed. Apply generous amount of wig conditioner & gently work through hair w/fingertips. Rinse thoroughly w/cold water. Drain & blot gently w/towel, DO NOT SQUEEZE OR WRING. Allow to air dry on a wire wig stand or a slender object like a can of hair spray. DO NOT USE HAIRDRYER. Brush wig only when completely dry.

Types of Wig Fibers we typically use:
HUMAN HAIR: Hair which has been obtained from actual human beings who contract with our factories to grow hair specifically for use in making wigs. Most of the hair used for making wigs comes from Europe, Asia, Indonesia & India. The hair is grown under very specific conditions in order to make it strong enough to withstand the chemical processes necessary to make it suitable for commercial wig making. In general, American hair is not considered strong enough to withstand these processes, and therefore, is not in demand by wig manufacturers.
YAK HAIR: Long, coarse hair which is obtained from a special breed of ox called a Yak. Since white and silver hair is rarely found in its natural color in usable lengths and quantities in human hair, Yak hair is substituted in making wigs and hairpieces in which the customer wishes to have real hair in white or light grey shades. We use this extensively on our best quality Santa Claus Wig & Beard sets.
KANEKALON: A trademark for a
Japanese-made synthetic fiber which is used extensively in the
manufacture of wigs & hairpieces. It's popularity is due to its
ability to retain its shape after washing, and also to the fine
texture of the fiber, making it a desirable choice for simulating
the texture of human hair. There are different qualities of
Kanekalon fiber.
SKIN TOP: A piece of thin latex or polyurethane inserted into the top of a wig, with hair implanted into it, in order to create the appearance of hair growing out of a person's scalp. Used primarily when the wig has a middle or side part.
